I have never worked on anything for as long and hard as I have worked on this. The two decades-long class structure project was different, for that was really many small focused projects, and the larger book manuscripts that came out of it were always reconstructions and integrations of completed pieces. This is a book that was a book from the start, that had a structure and an overarching argument, that was continually revised as it was being written. And now it is finished.
